Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
YALUMBA |
Very deep intense purple colour. Intense, spicy, baked plum-cherry nose with some herbal-mulberry-cedar notes. Dry, medium bodied, very cedary, intense, plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, crisp, faintly bitter finish. This new blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon and 36% Shiraz has 13.5% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. Better than the 2013 (*+/**) released on November 25, 2017 at $23.95, but not up to the riper 2012 (**/**+) released on November 12, 2016 at $21.95 |

TASTING NOTE: Beautifully styled and composed, the complex bouquet shows blackcurrant, cranberry, thyme and cedar characters, leading to a succulent palate that is brightly fruited and gently weighted. The wine offers fruit intensity as well as elegance, well supported by fine, chalky tannins. Harmonious and attractive. At its best: now to 2020. Score - 91 (Sam Kim, wineorbit.co.nz, Nov. 2017) |
