NIWA NO UGUISU |
Clear and colourless. Very attractive, slightly spicy, faintly honeyed, warm rice aromas. Fairly dry, medium bodied, harmonious, refined, gently spicy, lifted, faintly lychee-tinged, ripe melon-apple-pear purée and rice-tinged flavours with an elegant lingering, finish. Gold Medal Award winner in the Ginjo category at the 2016 Toronto International Sake Challenge. TASTING NOTE: \"Niwa no Uguisu\" means \"nightingale's garden\" and refers to the birds that sing in the garden by the historic brewery where this sake is crafted. This lovely Junmai Ginjo brings complex aromas and flavours of hazelnut, almond, apple, pear and banana with a long, elegant finish. It'll go nicely with yakitori, fish tacos or stuffed zucchini blossoms. (Vintages panel, June 2017) |
