BARREL SERIES CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2014 Uco Valley, Mendoza |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
ALMA AUSTRAL |
Very deep intense purple colour. Slightly spicy, dusty, faintly meaty, rather herbal, dried plum nose with lots of cedary notes. Dry, medium bodied, slightly spicy, dried plum-apple flavours with a somewhat strident, faintly bitter, high acid finish. Tasted once. Has 13.5% alcohol on the label (vs. 14.5% on the winery website) and 4 g/L residual sugar. Unfortunately, I could not find any lot number of the bottle sampled. |

TASTING NOTE: A product of cool, high-altitude winemaking, this has a refined elegance. Impressive black fruit, cassis and chocolate notes and superb balance and freshness. Excellent complexity and grip. A good option for barbecued back ribs, or steak grilled medium rare. (Vintages panel, May 2017) |
