BARREL SERIES CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2014 Uco Valley, Mendoza
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer ALMA AUSTRAL
Very deep intense purple colour. Slightly spicy, dusty, faintly meaty, rather herbal, dried plum nose with lots of cedary notes. Dry, medium bodied, slightly spicy, dried plum-apple flavours with a somewhat strident, faintly bitter, high acid finish. Tasted once. Has 13.5% alcohol on the label (vs. 14.5% on the winery website) and 4 g/L residual sugar. Unfortunately, I could not find any lot number of the bottle sampled. CSPC 549832

TASTING NOTE: A product of cool, high-altitude winemaking, this has a refined elegance. Impressive black fruit, cassis and chocolate notes and superb balance and freshness. Excellent complexity and grip. A good option for barbecued back ribs, or steak grilled medium rare. (Vintages panel, May 2017) Price $ 18.95
