Fairly deep intense purple colour. Slightly spicy, complex, toasty, mocha-chocolate-tinged nose with lots of black cherry puree notes. Fairly dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, slightly spicy, fairly intense, ripe black cherry puree flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, cedary finish. This ready-to-drink, entry-level, crowd-pleaser has 13.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L17024 on the back label. Screwcap closure. TASTING NOTE: 100% whole-berry fermented from Elgin quite similar to Freedom (except only 6 months in older oak). Fresh and bright, with tangy black berry fruit. Great value. Step above last-tasted 2012. Score - 4 Stars (out of 5) (Platter's South African Wine Guide, 2018) |
