BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2012 DOCG |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
BANFI |
The bottle served at the press tasting was corked. It was not presented at the consultants preview in the LCBO lab. As it is a REPEAT , here is my previous note: Very faintly ambering deep brick red colour. Fairly intense, sandalwood-tinged,somewhat rustic, baked plum-apple nose with some slight cedar notes. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, harmonious, slightly spicy, tangy, dried ripe plum-cherry-apple flavours with a gently complex, lingering, savoury, high acid, slightly earthy, dusty sandalwood-tinged finish. The new shipment has 14% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with a new lot number L7073R 7348-24 on the capsule. The 2012 (***) was last released on December 9, 2017 at $54.95. |

TASTING NOTE: A textbook Brunello, mingling cherry and berry fruit with bitter almond, iron, sanguine and tobacco notes. Well-structured and harmonious, this should rein in the tannins with a few years of aging. Best from 2020 through 2033. Score - 93 (Bruce Sanderson, winespectator.com, June 15, 2017) |
