ANZIVINO GATTINARA 2010 DOCG
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer ANZIVINO
Ambering medium deep red colour. Slightly spicy, sandalwood-tinged, faintly earthy, very ripe, baked plum nose with a nice level of complexity. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, slightly spicy, baked ripe plum flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, woodsy, sandalwood-driven, minerally, red brick-tinged finish. I reviewed the 27 Gattinara wines that have been released in Vintages since 2000 and this was the best on record. By the way, 23 of the 27 were from Travaglini. Despite the reputed longevity of Gattinara, this Anzivino seems somewhat forward and ready to drink. It has 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. CSPC 534909

TASTING NOTE: Enticing scents of perfumed berry, violet, dried herb and cake spice take center stage along with a balsamic note. The palate is firmly structured but elegant, offering tart red cherry, crushed raspberry, cinnamon and licorice. It's well balanced and young with taut polished tannins and fresh acidity. Drink: 2018-2030. Cellar Selection. Score - 93 (Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, Feb. 1, 2017) Price $ 29.95
