SAINT-AUBIN LES FRIONNES 1ER CRU 2015 AC |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
DOMAINE ROUX PÈRE & FILS |
Fairly deep purple colour. Cedary, baked ripe plum-cherry nose with some sandalwood notes. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, very slightly spicy, tangy, gently cedary, ripe plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, high acid, gently complex finish. Has 12.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L15.16 on the back label. Tasted twice - the second time at the consultants preview in the LCBO lab at which time - after being open for seven hours - it was drying out. Decent but perhaps a tad pricey. |

TASTING NOTE: The Roux family is one of the two most significant owners in Saint-Aubin. Compared to the likes of Volnay or Santenay, this wine represents considerable value, especially for a 2015. Excellent harmony among the fresh berry, baking spice and savoury tones. The fine tannins offer good grip and help knit the whole package up quite nicely. (Vintages panel, April 2017) |
