LAURUS CROZES HERMITAGE 2014 AP
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer GABRIEL MEFFRE
Deep intense purple colour. Intense, complex, lovely, gently complex, maturing, ripe plum-cherry-cassis nose with lots of faintly smoky, gently toasty oak notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, fairly dense albeit harmonious, quite lovely, expansive, ripe strawberry-plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, cassis-tinged, fairly high acid finish. Tasted twice. This batch (with only 13% alcohol and lot number L171944 on the capsule) is a tad more mature than what I initially expected. At the moment, it is very seductive and hence my enthusiastic high score. TONY ASPLER / 90-points / BUY - Lightly cedary, spicy, blackberry nose; medium to full-bodied, dry, juicy and savoury blackberry flavour with lively acidity. CSPC 526368

TASTING NOTE: I was only able to taste a single Crozes Hermitage in 2014. A success for sure, with a modern-tinged profile of sweet black raspberry, currants, toasted spice and hints of vanilla bean, the 2014 Crozes Hermitage Laurus is medium-bodied, supple, nicely textured and downright charming. It should drink well for 6-7 years. Drink date: 2016-2023. Score - 89 (Jeb Dunnuck, robertparker.com, Dec. 30, 2016) Price $ 32.95
Bottle Size 750 mL
