CHÂTEAU DE LA BRETESCHE |
Bright pale straw colour. Slightly shy, fairly spicy, light apple-lemon-melon nose with some chalky notes. Dry, light bodied, faintly spicy, lightish, apple-lemon-melon flavours with a very crisp, unoaked, faintly chalky finish. Best with seafood. Ready-to-drink. Has 12% alcohol and 4g/L residual sugar. The first bottle dry had a hint of tca. TONY ASPLER / 87-points - Minerally, citrus peel nose; medium-bodied, dry, crisp, lemony, green apple flavours; a little dilute on the finish. On OK sur lie but hardly a destination in spite of the price. It ‘s ready-to-drink and going nowhere. The preferred recommended 2014 (**) with 87.5-points was released on April 30, 2016 at $13.95. |

TASTING NOTE: The shield on the label honours Louis Jausseaume, who was a bodyguard for Louis XIV and was awarded the property on which this winery now stands for his bravery. The wine is fresh and minerally with tangy citrus and an excellent zesty acidity. Try it with a creamy seafood stew with fish, squid, clams, shrimp, scallops and mussels. (Vintages panel, May 2017) |
