CHÂTEAU LAGRANGE 2013 AC Lussac-Saint-Émilion |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
|
Bright deep purple colour. Spicy, bright, plum-cherry nose with some gentle cedar notes. Dry, medium bodied, rather firm, tangy, plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, crisp, slightly cedary finish. Needs time. This blend of 81% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L17166 on the lower part of the glass bottle. The 2012 (**/**+) was released on January 7, 2017 at $19.95. Do not confuse this Lussac-Saint-Émilion with the Grand Cru Classe from Saint-Julien. |

A Vintage Assessments Explorer's Selection! |
Though many people only associate Bordeaux with the exclusive, exquisite cru wines for which the region is world-renowned, the simple fact is the vast majority of wine produced in this iconic region is as affordable as it is good. Some of the best values to be found in Bordeaux come from the satellite regions such as Lussac-Saint-Émilion. These areas, just outside of the principal regions, deliver amazing value and quality while offering delicious hints at the greatness of the superstar wines. Most of us will never be able to taste the giants of Bordeaux, but wines such as this offering from Château Lagrange provide a flavourful, satisfying window into this historic region. |
