OAKVILLE CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2013 Napa Valley |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
ROBERT MONDAVI |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Slightly spicy, fairly cedary, ripe plum-cherry nose with some garrigue-tinged, sandalwoodnotes. Dry, medium-full bodied, fairly well structured, harmonious, intense, ripe plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, very slightly spicy, gently cedary finish. Tasted from three bottles. This classic Oakville blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec, 2% Petit Verdot and 2% Merlot has 14.5% alcohol and an actual .59 g/L residual sugar with lot number L02361501 on the lower part of the glass bottle. It is pleasingly balanced with 6.2 g/L total acidity. It is all grown on the To Kalon Vineyard where the winery was built in 1966. The average price in the US is $50 US (ex. tax) a bottle meaning the LCBO price is very good. TONY ASPLER / 90-points / TRY - Dense purple-black in colour; lightly cedary, spicy blackcurrant and vanilla oak bouquet; full-bodied, dry, elegant, firmly structured with great fruit expression. The 2006 (***) with 90-points was released on February 5, 2011 at $54.95. |
