STARS BRUT NATURE RESERVA CAVA 2015 Traditional method, DO, Spain
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CASTILLO PERELADA
Medium straw colour. Slightly spicy, very fresh, attractive, ripe apple-lemon nose. Dry, medium to medium-light bodied, gently complex, slightly spicy, fresh, ripe apple-lemon-melon flavours with a very crisp, lingering, faintly toasty, slightly leesy, effervescent finish. Fermented in the bottle and aged on the lees for at least 15 months, this tasty blend of approximately 38% Xarel·lo, 26% Parellada, 21% Macabeu, 7.5% Chardonnay and 7.5% Pinot Noir has 11.5% alcohol and oa minuscule 1.2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L-4211A on the capsule. It really is terrific value for anyone looking for a substitute to a decent Brut Champagne. CSPC 515221

TASTING NOTE: Every summer since 1987, Castillo Perelada hosts one of the most prestigious music festivals in Europe (the 2018 lineup includes tenor Jonas Kaufmann and a performance of Massenet's opera Thaïs featuring Plácido Domingo). This bubbly is a tribute to the stars who perform. It offers fresh green apple, pear, apricot and citrus with tongue-tingling acidity. Pair it with paella or tempura, or simply sip while enjoying your favourite music. (Vintages panel, Feb. 2017) Price $ 16.95
