'BLACK MAGIC' RED BLEND 2015 California |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
CASHMERE |
Very deep intense purple colour. Spicy, cedary, mocha-chocolate nose with some baked plum notes. Fairly dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, spicy, gently juicy, ripe, intense, sweetish, plum-cherry puree flavours with a lingering, cedary, fairly high acid finish. Ready-to-drink. This California designation blend of Petite Sirah, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Grenache has 15% alcohol and 10 g/L residual sugar. Contrary to what appears in the Vintages Catalogue, it has absolutely nothing (ZERO other than being red in colour) that is even remotely “reminiscent of a ripe Cru Beaujolais”. TONY ASPLER / 87-points - Savoury-herbal nose of blackberries; full-bodied, off-dry, with vanilla oak overpowering fruit at the moment, finishing on firm tannins. You can safely ignore the 91-point paid-for note (c/o tastings.com) appearing in the Vintages Catalogue. |

A blend of Petite Sirah, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Grenache. TASTING NOTE: Garnet black color. Toasty, savory aromas and flavors of roasted nuts, toasted herbs, and gherkin with a silky, bright, fruity medium body and a polished, captivating, medium-length creme brulee, boysenberry tart, and pencil shavings finish with crunchy, chewy tannins and light oak. A round, savory, juicy yet structured red blend reminiscent of a ripe Cru Beaujolais. Exceptional. Best Buy. Score - 91 (tastings.com, Sept. 26, 2017) |
