Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |

Deep intense purple colour. Spicy, baked plum-ripe apple nose with some sandalwood notes. Very dry, medium bodied, slightly herbal, dried apple-baked plum flavours with a lingering, sandalwood-tinged, high acid, mineral-tinged finish. Tasted twice - one of the 18-year-old bottles was quite tired, while the other was still lively (90-points). Has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. This is not new at Vintages. This REPEAT was last released on May 24 2003 at $39.95 (# 720326). Part of the Fun Facts Spotlight with 10 items. |

TASTING NOTE: Planted in deep Garonne gravel, this is sourced from vines of more than 30 years of age. The Bouteiller family worked this land for eight generations. Since 2009, it has been maintained by Paz Espejo. This 2000 is a fine example of maturing Bordeaux. Complex and layered, it retains some youthful fruit tones alongside the leather, dried fruit and earth tones. The tannins are well-integrated and provide a silky, almost caressing mouthfeel. This is drinking beautifully now, and will continue to evolve for another 3-5 years. (Vintages panel, Dec. 2017) |
