NOVELLUM CHARDONNAY 2016 Vin de France |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

LAFAGE |
Bright pale straw colour. Fairly intense, slightly spicy, ripe lemon-apple nose with some mineral notes and a touch of toast. Dry, medium bodied, quite harmonious, bright, spicy, faintly toasty, ripe lemon-melon-apple puree flavours with a lingering, crisp, faintly cedary finish. Very pleasant, well-made and ready-to-drink. This newly designated “Vins de France” (formerly IGP Pays d'Oc) has 13% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number LA717277 on the back label. Dollars for donuts, the bottle assessed by Jeb Dunnuck, which received 92-points almost a year ago, was from a different batch than what we received here at Vintages. |

TASTING NOTE: A sensational wine that will compete with wines five times the price, the 2016 Novellum Chardonnay is the real deal and actually reminded me of a Chardonnay from Mark Aubert in California's Sonoma County. White peach, crushed rocks, spice and brioche notes all emerge from this medium to full-bodied Chardonnay that has depth, layered texture and length. Buy it. Score - 92 (Jeb Dunnuck, robertparker.com, April 28, 2017) |
