MARQUES DE CASA CONCHA CARMENÈRE 2015 Peumo, Cachapoal Valley |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
CONCHA Y TORO |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, slightly spicy, faintly baked, plum nose with some crancherry-cedar-garrigue notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, fairly dense, well structured, intense, ripe plum-crancherry flavours with a lingering, slightly spicy, somewhat herbal-tinged, high acid, gently cedary, very slightly herbaceous finish. This Carmenere requires some breathing to open up and is best married with a rib steak. A blend of 20+ year old Carmenere (87.5%) and Cabernet Sauvignon, (12.5%) spent 18 months in French oak and has 13.9% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number L725617 on the back label. TONY ASPLER / 89-points / BEST BUY - Cedary, spicy blackcurrant and blackberry nose; medium to full-bodied, dry, savoury blackcurrant flavour; firmly structured with ripe tannins. |

TASTING NOTE: Beautifully fragrant style, with floral and pure aromatics and a sleek, refined palate. Elegantly generous, with soft gentle fruit and balancing resistance from lightly sappy tannins. Score - Gold & Puemo Carmenere Trophy (International Wine Challenge, 2017) |
