PROVOLO |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, spicy, cedary, sandalwood-driven, ripe cherry-plum nose. Fairly dry, medium-full bodied, spicy, ripe plum-apple flavours with a lingering, high acid, sandalwood-cedar finish. This REPEAT has 14% alcohol and 11 g/L residual sugar with NEW lot number L.273.7 on the back label. Thankfully this batch of 419 cases is much better than the 2011 (*+) with 86.5-points released on May 28, 2016 at $19.95 with lot number L.15.6 on the back label. TONY ASPLER / 88.5-points - Deep ruby-purple colour; spicy, earthy, dried cherry nose with a floral grace note; medium-bodied, sweetish with lively acidity. You can safely ignore the dated 92-point tasting note appearing in the Vintages Catalogue. |

TASTING NOTE: A classic Ripasso style Valpolicella with sophistication, polish and integrity. Full-bodied and nutty with notes of dried fruit fresh earth. Impressive concentration with a firm tannic presence and rounded acids. Hot finish due to an unsurprising degree of alcohol. Very good value. Score - 92 (Sara d'Amato, winealign.com, Sept. 6, 2016) |
