NAOUSSA XINOMAVRO 2015 PDO Naoussa
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer BOUTARI
Medium deep red colour. Gently spicy, slightly dusty, fairly ripe cherry nose with some sandalwood notes. Dry, medium bodied, spicy, tangy, plum-apple flavours with a lingering, rather crisp, sandalwood-tinged finish. Rather simple and ready-to-drink. This 100% Xinomavro has 12% alcohol and now only 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number L72501332 on the capsule. The sweeter 2014 (**) with 87.5-points was released on April 15, 2017 at $13.95. The only virtue here is the low price. If you want something really worth drinking try Boutari’s terrific DOMAINE KARYDAS XINOMAVRO 2012 (#2721013) which was released in Vintages on April 15, 2017 at $21.75. CSPC 23218

Boutari was founded in 1879 and is one of Greece's oldest and most important wineries. Though they make a wide range of wines in sites throughout Greece, it is Naoussa and Xinomavro that represent the soul of Boutari. This 100% Xinomavro is a wine that's typically crafted in a fruity, easy-to-enjoy style with a lithe mouthfeel, moderately grippy tannins and complex vanilla and earthy tones. This will be superb this evening with a lamb or beef stew but will also continue to evolve for another 3-5 years. Price $ 13.95
