ORIGINE CAHORS MALBEC 2014 AC Cahors |

CHÂTEAU VINCENS |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, spicy, herbal, baked plum nose with some smoky notes. Dry, medium bodied, fairly dense, somewhat tangy, gently cedary, baked plum flavours with some garrigue and strident clove notes on the lingering high acid finish. It has 13.5% alcohol This is not a style that I am very fond of, but it does have its fans. Also, this could be a recent bottling as L.7 appears on the on the back label and it seems much more youthful than the 2013 (*+/**) that was released on August 20, 2016 at $19.95. TONY ASPLER / 88-points - Cedary, blackberry bouquet with a light floral note; medium to full-bodied, dry, fresh and lively blackberry flavour with a clovey oak finish. |

TASTING NOTE: This is a ripe and opulent wine. It has rich tannins and generous black fruits but it still offers a spicy wood-aging flavor. As it develops, the intense fruits and smoky flavors will come to dominate, while always preserving the structure of the wine. It is a wine to age a bit, so drink from 2017. Editors' Choice.
