DOMAINE RENÉ COULY CHINON 2014 AC
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer COULY-DUTHEIL
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Somewhat greenish, intense, dried ripe plum, garrigue-tinged nose. Somewhat dry, medium bodied, stewed plum-prune flavours with a tight, somewhat herbal, high acid, youthful finish. This still youthful 100% Cabernet Franc has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L1408002 on the back label. This is the 16th release of a Couly-Duthel Chinon in Vintages since 2004, my favourite being the very tasty, LA BARONNIE MADELEINE CHINON 2005 released on January 31, 2009 at $21.95. A firm, savoury, somewhat tannic style, Chinon is not what I would call a crowd-pleaser. If you are a fan, there are 200 cases now available. CSPC 7286

Cabernet Francs from the Chinon region are among the finest reds produced in the Loire. Known locally as \"Breton,\" Cab Francs from Chinon are typically quite supple and have a distinct green pepper note mixed in among the red raspberry and cherry tones. These wines often suggest a graphite-tinged minerality. This will be a nice match for a meaty stew, particularly one featuring lamb. Price $ 22.95
