Very bright intense purple colour. Fairly intense, quite ripe, slightly spicy, plum-cherry nose with some cedary notes. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, slightly spicy, fairly intense, ripe plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, tangy, gently herbaceous finish. This blend of 50% Carignan (Cariņena), 30% Grenache (Garnacha) and 20% Mourvedre (Monastrell) has 14% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number L17052 on the back label. TASTING NOTE: ... blends 50% Carignan (Cariņena), 30% Grenache (Garnacha) and 20% Mourvedre (Monastrell) from high density, slope vineyards in Apalta on granite soils. The grapes underwent a seven-day cold soak and then fermented with selected yeasts followed by six months in second and third use French oak barrels. 2016 was a cooler than average year, and the wine is definitively fresher. It has an expressive nose with a mixture of Mediterranean herbs and a lactic twist. The cooler year made them harvest some of the grapes a little earlier, and the wine is spicier, a different expression, almost as if it was from a cooler zone.
