CHENIN BLANC/VIOGNIER/ROUSSANNE 2017 WO Western Cape
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer ESSAY
Bright medium very pale straw colour. Leesy, slightly doughy nose with some lemon-apple notes. Dry, light bodied, slightly spicy, fresh ripe lemon-apple-melon flavours with a very crisp (ranging on tart), unoaked finish. This new blend of 68% Chenin Blanc, 22% Viognier and now 10% Rousanne has 13.5% alcohol and 6 g/L residual sugar with lot number L17159 on the back label. Screwcap closure. Better than the disappointing 2014 (*/*+) with 85-points (a blend of 87% Chenin Blanc and 13% Viognier) that was released on June 13, 2015 at $13.95. CSPC 414144

TASTING NOTE: Wow! We could write a dissertation on why this wine is such a great value. It opens with abundant floral notes, and the palate is packed with delicious ripe tropical fruit brightened by crisp, lip-smacking acidity. This will make a fab sipper. It'll also delight with pork or chicken burgers. (Vintages panel, June 2017) Price $ 14.95
