RODITIS 2016 PDO Patras, Peloponnese
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer TETRAMYTHOS
Bright pale straw colour. Very slightly spicy, honeyed, ripe lemon-apple nose with some waxy faintly resiny, wildflower notes. Dry, light bodied, slightly spicy, tangy, lightish, ripe apple-melon flavours with a crisp, unoaked finish. Simple, straightforward and ready-to-drink. It’s OK value at $13.95, but there really is nothing special about this organic Roditis which has 12.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. to warrant a detour. TONY ASPLER / 87.5-points - Resiny, high-toned, citrus nose; medium-bodied,dry, crab apple flavour with some bitterness on the finish. The 2010 (*+) with 86.5-points was released on January 7, 2012 at $16.95. CSPC 261610

TASTING NOTE: A simple but well made, infinitely drinkable roditis here from the ultra-minimalist Tetramythos winery in the northern Peloponnese, crunchy, bright yet infused with Greek sunshine. No artifice, no unnecessary additions or subtractions. Dig deeper and you'll find lovely floral notes, even fresh vanilla pod (though this is totally unwooded). Good to very good length, finishing on saline minerality. Infinitely drinkable. Score - 89 (John Szabo, MS, winealign.com, May 23, 2017) Price $ 13.95
