MUSCADET SÈVRE & MAINE SUR LIE 2015 AC
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer DOMAINE DE LA FRUITIÈRE
Bright medium straw colour. Very spicy, baked apple-lemon nose with some leesy-lactic notes. Very dry, light bodied, very slightly salty, faintly tart, lightish, lemon-apple flavours with a very crisp, unoaked, somewhat leesy finish. Best with oysters - the “sur lie” style is often not for everyone, especially neophytes. Has 12% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L7233 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Screwcap closure. CSPC 451112

TASTING NOTE: The vines of Domaine de la Fruitière have to work hard to find moisture, often digging for metres through the rocky soils in which they are planted to find a water source. Forcing the vines to work harder has the double benefit of producing better-quality grapes and imparting a fine, dominant mineral overtone to the flavour profile. This 2015 Muscadet Sèvre & Maine Sur Lie is vibrant and refreshing and owns a lively citrus character as well as that distinctive minerality that is so beloved in these wines. Enjoy with seafood or fish dishes. (Vintages panel, May 2017) Price $ 14.95
