MARSANNAY BLANC 2015 AC |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
JEAN CLAUDE BOISSET |
Bright pale yellow colour. Very spicy, somewhat cedary, gingery, clove-tinged, resiny, baked lemon-apple nose. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, spicy, intense, ripe apple-lemon-melon-pineapple flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, clove-tinged, slightly resiny (shades of pine pitch) finish. These resiny notes may relate to the use of new French oak (30%) the staves of which have not been sufficiently weathered - the longer is usually the better! In other words, this well structured Marsannay lacks finesse. Has 12.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L17060 on the back label. Tasted twice. |

This is sourced from clay-limestone soils in the southern part of Marsannay, which is itself the northernmost area of the Côte de Nuits. The grapes were harvested as whole bunches from vines that average 40 years of age. Fermentation is achieved using indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for 16 months with no racking or stirring - this preserves the wine's minerality. Some 30% new French oak was used to inflect delicate oak tones. You can expect this to be a complex, fruity wine with apple and pear fruit accented by gently applied oak. |
