COLLECTION BELLENUM CHAMBOLLE-MUSIGNY VILLAGES 2001 AC |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

MAISON ROCHE DE BELLENE |
Unfortunately, the only bottle presented in the lab was corked and well past its prime. It seems that it’s a risky $69.95. Here is my impression: Ambering brick red colour. Fairly intense, spicy, stewed plum with lots of corky sandalwood notes. Dry, medium bodied, spicy, earthy, baked plum-sandalwood flavours with a earthy, lingering finish. I would be weary of the dated two-year-old 93-point tasting note appearing in the Vintages Catalogue. I will have my colleague Tim Appelt check it out if it resurfaces at the lab consultant’s tasting. |

TASTING NOTE: Drinking superbly well at the moment, this Chambolle has hit full stride. Tannins still offer some grip and structure, and the fruit-earth continuum has reach an excellent balance where both share equal measure. This has all of the hallmark finesse one hopes for from the village. Delicious, and very attractively priced. Tasted December 2015. Score - 92 (John Szabo, MS, winealign.com, Jan. 20, 2016) |
