CANTINA DI VERONA |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, slightly spicy, ripe cherry nose with some sandalwood notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, quite well structured, harmonious, ripe plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, sandalwood finish. Try with game - roast duck should work. Excellent value and ready-to-drink. This bargain-priced well-made Ripasso that has 14% alcohol and 8 g/L residual sugar with relatively recent new lot number L7205 on the back label. The recommended best buy 2013 (**/**+) was released on September 19, 2015 at $16.95. TONY ASPLER / 88-points / BEST BUY - Cedary, plum nose with vanilla oak notes; medium-bodied, dry red stone fruit flavours with lively acidity. |

TASTING NOTE: In fair Cantina di Verona, where we set our scene, this wine is made. It strikes a nice balance of richness and elegance, with sweet-ripe and dried fruit notes on a supple frame. Pair it with sausage risotto smothered in Asiago cheese. (Vintages panel, May 2017) |
