PINOT NOIR 2016 King Valley, Victoria |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
TOBACCO ROAD |
Medium deep purple colour. Spicy, ripe plum-cherry puree nose with some slight hints of oak. Dry, medium-light bodied, very tangy, crisp, fresh, plum-cherry-raspberry flavours with a very crisp, unoaked finish. Quite ready-to-drink. Victoria’s King Valley has a cooler climate come up with a wide-appeal, bright, versatile Pinot Noir that is reasonably priced. Has 14% alcohol and 6 g/L residual sugar. |

TASTING NOTE: Though the King Valley was initially best known for growing tobacco, grapes have been grown in the area since around 1860. The region's varied topography and cool climate make it ideal for a wide range of varieties including Pinot, and the Gapsted Tobacco Road is a classic example. This delivers superb freshness and lift alongside impressive cherry and earth. There's an additional minty herbal undertone that is very attractive. (Vintages panel, April 2017) |
