PINOT BLANC 2016 AC Alsace
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer JOSEPH CATTIN
Extremely pale straw colour. Slightly honeyed, fairly spicy, melon-apple-lemon-grapefruit nose. Fairly dry, medium-light bodied, spicy, tangy, fresh apple-grapefruit flavours with a crisp, unoaked, slightly leesy finish. A reasonable albeit somewhat basic, youthful, lightish, example of Alsatian Pinot Blanc. Try with spicy Thai cuisine. Has 12% alcohol and 6 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. The 2015 (*+) was released on November 12, 2016 at $15.95. CSPC 224642

Swiss-born François Cattin settled in the small Alsatian village of Voegtlinshoffen (say that five times fast) and began the family winery in 1720. Nearly three centuries and 11 generations later, the Cattin family continues to make fine wines, such as this Pinot Blanc, which won a Gold Medal at the 2017 CGA in Paris. Look for subtle aromas and flavours of tree fruit and pair the wine with a ham-and-cheese quiche. Price $ 15.95
