FLAT ROCK RIESLING 2016 VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer FLAT ROCK
Not presented at the press preview in the LCBO lab as the 2015, not 2016, was poured. Here is the tasting note from a bottle provided by the winery. Bight pale straw colour. Slightly spicy, faintly floral, honeyed, fresh, ripe, apple-lemon-melon nose with some mineral notes. Slightly off-dry, medium-light bodied, quite well structured, attractive, ripe, melon-apple-lemon flavours with a faint twist of grapefruit-rhubarb on the lingering, crisp, refreshing finish. Has 11% alcohol and 23 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. One of only 5 BEST BUY RELEASE HIGHLIGHTS. CSPC 43281

TASTING NOTE: Niagara Riesling continues to move from strength to strength as ever more consistent, complex, intense examples, such as this 2016 from industry leader Flat Rock, are crafted. Floral, with superbly delineated notes of lime, apple, pear and mineral and a fresh, tangy character. Mouthwatering acidity provides balance to the sweetness here. Just a great wine, and a steal at the price. (Vintages panel, March 2017) Price $ 17.95
