ORNELLAIA 2014 DOC Bolgheri Superiore
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer Tenuta dell'Ornellaia
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Attractive, intense, slightly spicy, ripe plum nose with some bright cassis and sandalwood-cedar notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, harmonious, fairly extracty, slightly spicy, intense, ripe plum-blackberry-cherry flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, fairly high acid, mineral-tinged, surprisingly harmonious finish. A great classic from a very challenging wet cloudy vintage. The nice thing about this wine is that it is harmonious and accessible and can be enjoyed today and in the years to come! This blend of 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 20% Petit Verdot and 14% Cabernet Franc has 13.5% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number 46160231 on the lower part of the glass bottle. . Still the 2012 (***+) at 97-points is one of the best Ornellaias I have ever tasted and was released on November 28, 2015 at $195.95. CSPC 722470

(robertparker.com, April 28, 2017)TASTING NOTE: Very floral and fresh with dark berry, lemon rind and hints of cloves and spice. Medium to full body, firm and silky tannins and a pretty finish of fruit, smoke, toasted oak and more spice. Better in 2019. Outstanding for the vintage.
