CASTELLO DI AMA |
Very deep intense purple colour. Slightly spicy, sandalwood-tinged, fairly intense, ripe plum nose with some sandalwood and dusty apple notes. Dry, medium bodied, youthful, slightly spicy, firm plum flavours with a lingering, high acid, sandalwood-tinged, red licorice finish. This old school, rather rustic, sandalwood-tinged 2012 has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. TONY ASPLER / 90-points / TRY- Dense purple colour; cedary, spicy cherry nose with a feral and vanilla oak note; medium-bodied, dry, cherry and licorice flavours with a hint of raspberry; beautifully balanced, firm with great length. |

TASTING NOTE: Tight and super silky with a gorgeous density and precision that gives great polish to the tannins. Makes them almost dusty. Lots of subtle dark berry, mineral and spice. Drink or hold. Score - 95 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Aug. 21, 2016) |
