DECOY CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2015 Sonoma County |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
DUCKHORN |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Spicy, ripe plum-cherry puree nose with some cedar notes. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, plum-cherry puree flavours with a lingering, fairly crisp, cedary finish. This blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot has 13.9% alcohol and 6 g/L residual sugar is quite ready-to-drink. The similar 2014 (**/**+) was released on April 29, 2017 at $35.95. |

TASTING NOTE: Ironically, under Duckhorn's Decoy label, this wine is the real thing. It clearly demonstrates that you needn't spend triple digits to find satisfying wine with real character. Delivering more than the price suggests, there's a well-integrated combination of prominent cassis-like fruitiness and subtle savory components. Mild, smooth tannins allow immediate consumption and juicy acidity in the finish prevents palate fatigue. Perfect for flank steak on the grill this summer.
