Very deep intense purple colour with an ample violet edge. Intense, complex, quite earthy, slightly spicy, sandalwood-driven nose with some gingerbread notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, dense, still youthful, ripe plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, faintly earthy, sandalwood-tinged finish. Has 13.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. TONY ASPLER / 91-points / TRY - Dense purple colour; spicy sandalwood and strawberry nose; medium-bodied, dry, spicy red berry flavour with lively acidity. LCBO Text Status A Vintage Assessments Explorer's Selection!
TASTING NOTE: Deep, sweet dark-cherry fruit forms a solid foundation for this impressive wine. There's a touch of menthol oak on the nose; plenty of leather and earth accents in the mouth, coupled with good acidity, keep the palate complex and lively. Finishes long, with full but-not harsh-tannins. Editors' Choice. Score - 92 (Wine Enthusiast, May 2001) Price $ 68.95
