LIANO SANGIOVESE/CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2014 IGT Rubicone |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
UMBERTO CESARI |
Very deep intense purple colour. Very spicy, baked plum-cherry puree nose with some cedar-sandalwood, faint gingerbread notes. Off dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, very spicy, gingery, plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, sandalwood-tinged, dried apple, marzipan-tinged finish. This REPEAT blend has 13.5% alcohol and 11 g/L residual sugar with the same lot number L.C0530/1 on the back label. Consistently underwhelming especially for the price - the 2013 (*+) with 86-points was released on November 26, 2016 at $27.95. TONY ASPLER / 86.5-points - Spicy-cedary plum bouquet; medium-bodied, dry, sweetish plum flavour and a firm tannic finish. A pass! |

TASTING NOTE: This is always a winning, elegant wine. A blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet, this 2014 delivers a lush, round experience, with dark fruit atop a refined, structured frame. Just lovely. This will be perfect for a meat- based stew. (Vintages panel, Oct. 2017) |
