Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer TARDIEU LAURENT
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Garrigue-tinged, somewhat herbal, dried plum nose with some sandalwood notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, fairly dense, very youthful, extracty, intense plum flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, somewhat cedary finish. This blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah has 14.5% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar. TONY ASPLER / 89-points - Cedary, spicy, blackberry with oak notes on the nose; medium to full-bodied, dry, plum and blackberry flavours with firm tannins and a biter chocolate finish. CSPC 526657

TASTING NOTE: I loved the sexy, charming, incredibly polished 2015 Vacqueyras Vieilles Vignes, and this mix of 70% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah offers layers of fresh plum and jammy blackberry fruit to go with notes of lavender and garrigue, medium to full-bodied richness, gorgeous purity of fruit and fine tannin. Like most Vacqueyras, it will drink nicely right out of the gate, and hold for a decade. Score - 91-93 (Jeb Dunnuck, robertparker.com, Oct. 28, 2016) Price $ 39.95
