WHITE CONCEPTION 2013 VQA Niagara Peninsula
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer FIELDING
Bright pale straw colour. Leesy, somewhat peppery, dried apple nose. Very dry, medium-light bodied, dried apple flavours with a tart, somewhat spicy, unoaked, nutty finish. A 12.5% alcohol blend of 34% Chardonnay, 34% Pinot Bris and 32% Viognier with now 2 g/L residual sugar (down from 7 g/L residual sugar). This THIRD REPEAT of the 2013 (*/*+) was last released on July 23, 2016 at $18.95. Unfortunately, there is no detour for this one either. TASTING NOTE: This unique blend of 34% Chardonnay/32% Pinot Gris/32% Viognier dishes up alluring aromas of tropical fruit - pineapple and mango - interwoven with honey and citrus. It bathes the palate with a balanced and beautiful stream of honey-drizzled guava and lemon curd with grapefruit pith and peach skin. It's medium weight with good mouth feel and a lingering, lip-smacking, tangy finish. This really sings with pan-seared fish or sea food; tried mine with pan-seared salmon alongside parboiled, pan-grilled broccoli and cauliflower - delicious.
