ARCHIMEDES CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2013 Alexander Valley, Sonoma County |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
Francis Ford CoppolA |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, ripe plum-cherry puree nose with some faint hints of evergreen and a touch of cedar. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, slightly spicy, very ripe, verging on jammy, plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, bright, mocha-chocolate-tinged finish. This REPEAT has 14.5% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar. TONY ASPLER / 92-points / TRY - Cedary, vanilla oak, atop aromas of black fruits; medium to full-bodied, sweet and savoury black currant flavour, wrapped in firm tannins, rich mouth-feel with a note of cinnamon on the finish. The 2013 (***) with 90-points was last released on November 26, 2016 at $79.95. |

TASTING NOTE: The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Archimedes from Alexander Valley has the most imposing dense bluish/purple color of this grouping. Beautiful blueberry and black raspberry notes with hints of graphite and spice box jump from the glass of this full-bodied, stunningly rich and well-proportioned Cabernet Sauvignon that should drink gracefully for 25 or more years. It is clearly the show stopper in the six wines I tasted from Coppola. It can be drunk now or cellared for up to another 25 years. Drink Date: 2016-2041. Score - 94 (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, March 3, 2016) |
