VRANAC 2015 Tikves
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer STOBI
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Spicy, warm ripe baked plum nose with some faintly herbal, mulberry-cedar notes. Dry, quite well structured, spicy, plummy, ripe red apple flavours with a very crisp, somewhat cedary finish. Vranac, a native Macedonian grape usually produces easy-to-drink crowd-pleasing reds without much complexity. This one has 13.5% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number L14-17 13.07.2017 on the back label. Better than the 2012 (*+/**) released on September 19, 2015 at $13.95. CSPC 317297

TASTING NOTE: Red and black licorice make a first impression on the nose. Wild herbs and a hint of fennel add complexity to the palate. Love the richness and depth but also the brightness of acidity. Nicely balanced and characteristically darkly coloured. Score - 88 (Sara d'Amato, winealign.com, Sept. 2015) Price $ 12.95
