IL BOSCO SYRAH CORTONA 2012 DOC |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
LUIGI D'ALESSANDRO |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Very attractive, ripe, Damson plum puree nose with some faintly smoky, sandalwood-cedar notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, slightly spicy, surprisingly fresh, attractive, ripe plum-cherry puree with some slightly smoky, gently cedary notes on the lingering, high acid finish. This Tuscan Syrah is quite a show-stopper - the seductive ripe fruit will win you over immediately. Has 14.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L6080 on the back label. |

TASTING NOTE: The 2012 Syrah Il Bosco is gorgeous. A blast of dark cherry and plum hits the palate first. Scents of tobacco, licorice, smoke and leather add shades of aromatic nuance with air. But above all else, the 2012 is a wine of pure, voluptuous fruit. Today, the 2012 is naturally quite primary. Readers who enjoy wines with a bit more aromatic nuance will want to cellar the 2012 for at least a few years. This is an impressive showing. Drinking window: 2017- 2024.
