Extremely deep intense purple colour. Complex, slightly spicy, fairly intense, warm plum-cherry nose with some fairly intense cedary notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, intense, very ripe plum-cherry puree flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, bright, very faintly herbal, high acid, mocha-chocolate-tinged finish. This co-fermented blend of 58% Syrah and 42% Cabernet Sauvignon has 14.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. TONY ASPLER / 91-points / TRY - Cedary, vanilla oak blackberry nose with a thread of minerality; full-bodied, dry, richly extracted, spicy black fruit flavours. A co-fermented blend of 58% Syrah and 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, the Athene was hand-harvested from the Black Sage Bench A8 block on November 4, 2014. It was then aged for 18 months in oak - 71% French, 23% American and 6% Hungarian - of which 17% was new. You can expect the final wine to be a richly structured, powerful wine with impressive cassis, black fruit and woodsmoke. Price $ 44.95
