MONTAGNY 1ER CRU 2014 AC |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
HENRI DE VILLAMONT |
Forward deep yellow colour. Fairly intense, complex, maturing, lemon meringue nose. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, dense, intense, ripe lemon meringue flavours with a lingering, high acid, fairly toasty, yellow grapefruit-tinged, faintly resinous finish. This Chardonnay from the Chalonnaise region of the southern Cotes d’Or offers lots of flavour at a decent price. It has 13.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar and would pair well with white meats and poultry as opposed to seafood. TONY ASPLER / 90-points / BUY - Minerally, citrus and apple bouquet; medium-bodied, dry, well-balanced, crisp lemony-apple flavours. Venture forth and try it now. |

TASTING NOTE: A fine example of white Burgundy in a richer, more robust style, this wine opens with fabulously complex aromas of buttered toast, yellow apple and plum, nectarine, lemon drop, pineapple and meringue. It's bright and juicy on the palate with oaky overtones, a subtle touch of apple cider vinegar, and a chalky mineral feel on the finish. Savour it through 2030 with pork tenderloin stuffed with cabbage and apples in a white-wine-and-mustard sauce. (Vintages panel, Oct. 2017) |
