The rooster is an important symbol in France, in addition to being the logo for Jean Fillioux COQ. 2017 is the Year of the Rooster, making this an even more timely gift. Though this will not be the same bottling as referenced by F. Paul Pacult, the quality he cites will be consistent with this example. TASTING NOTE: Five years old minimum. Straw yellow color; to my dismay, lots of tendril like sediment seen under the examination lamp. Visual issues aside, the initial whiffs encounter lovely, melded scent of spiced pear, cardamom and ripe white grapes; After allowing this cognac to sit undisturbed for about seven more minute[s], the second round of inhalation produce juicy, luscious and fruity aromas that are in harmony; Grand Champagne cognac at its fruity, seductive aromatic best. Entry is intensely grapey, semisweet, ripe and supple; midpalate reinforces the entry juiciness and youthful vigour. Finishes long, silky, tarter than I expected, and delicious. Highly recommended.
