ZINFANDEL 2014 Napa Valley
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CLOS DU VAL
Very deep intense purple colour. Very spicy, somewhat cedary, very ripe, plum-cherry puree nose with some tropical fruit cocktail notes. Fairly dry, medium bodied, tangy, spicy, juicy, plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, gently cedar-tinged finish. This blend of 80% Zinfandel and 20% Petite Sirah has 14.5% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar. Not my style. The 2013 (**/**+) was released on October 17, 2015 at $28.95. TONY ASPLER / 88-points - A nose of plums and leather; full-bodied, sweet plum and spicy blackberry flavours with lively acidity. Quite commercial and pricey. CSPC 590216

TASTING NOTE: Clos Du Val has been making Zinfandel since the winery's inception in 1972. This wine blends in 20% Petite Sirah for extra complexity and depth. The final product is fleshy, ripe and rich, with plenty of black cherry, blueberry and spice flavours wrapped in easygoing tannins. (Vintages panel, Nov. 2016) Price $ 34.95
