RIOJA VARIETAL GARNACHA 2014 DOCa Rioja |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
BARÓN DE LEY |
Fairly deep ruby-violet colour. Somewhat shy, spicy, ripe plum-apple-cherry nose with some mineral notes. Dry, medium bodied, very bright, spicy, tangy, apple-plum flavours with a very crisp, seemingly unoaked finish. Ready-to-drink. Has 13.5% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with a new lot number L170702 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Unfortunately, a second bottle had tca cork taint. |

TASTING NOTE: The juicy and ripe 2014 Varietal Garnacha wants to showcase the typicity of the grape, finesse and texture, ripe with some aromas of plums and damsons, eminently Mediterranean with plenty of aromatic herbs and a silky, rather velvety mouthfeel with polished tannins after six months in American barrels and another six months in a 10,000-liter French foudre. Delicious. Drink Date: 2016-2018. Score - 89+ (Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com, Aug. 30, 2016) |
