Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

REIF ESTATE |
Medium-deep red colour. Slightly spicy, dried cherry and cranberry nose with some sandalwood notes. Dry, light bodied, slightly spicy, plummy, sun dried tomato flavours with a very crisp, rather short, high acid, tart finish. Has 13% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. It’s hard to believe that the Vintages Catalogue dares to call this “A stunning value.” The 2013 (*/*+) with 84-points was released on January 7, 2017 at $16.95. |

TASTING NOTE: This was harvested from vines planted in 1987 and was aged for one year in old barriques, then a further six months in stainless steel to encourage the fruit purity to express itself. This is savoury and earthy, with ripe raspberry, strawberry, black cherry and spice. Fresh and long with grippy tannins and balancing, food-friendly acidity, this would be a great match for salmon dishes. A stunning value. (Vintages panel, March 2017) |
