FIRST PRESS CHARDONNAY 2015 Napa Valley
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer DELICATO
This repeat has a bright pale straw colour - totally different from the last shipment. Intense, complex, spicy, lemon meringue nose with lots of cedary, faintly smoky, pineapple notes. Fairly dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, spicy, very oaky, lemon-melon flavours with a lingering, very toasty, somewhat smoky finish. A REPEAT of the 2015 (*+) last released on May 27, 2017 at $24.95. TONY ASPLER / 87.5-points - Smoky, toasty nose with oak spice masking fruit; medium to full-bodied, nutty, sweet and sour lemon and baked apple flavours with a long finish. This wide-appeal crowd pleaser has 14.% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. CSPC 199810

TASTING NOTE: The grapes for First Press Chardonnay come from a number of premium sites in both the upper valley vineyards and cooler, southern vineyards in the Napa Valley. What results is a round, juicy wine with good heft and attractive suggestions of banana cream pie, lemon curd, white peach and vanilla. Toasty oak underpins the finish. Enjoy with seared scallops or pork chops. (Vintages panel, Aug. 2017) Price $ 24.95
