Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
SAINT CLAIR |
Bright pale straw colour. Fairly intense, slightly spicy, youthful, mineral-tinged, grassy apple nose. Very dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, youthful, intense, slightly spicy, fairly grassy, ripe lemon-apple flavours with a lingering, very crisp, mineral-tinged finish. Has 13% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. Unfortunately, a second bottle (not rated) had some reductive rubber hose notes on the nose. The recommended 2013 (***) was released on March 21, 2015 at $35.95. |

TASTING NOTE: Intense and powerful sauvignon blanc, with a wonderfully creamy texture and lengthy finish. It thoroughly deserves its flagship status. A complex wine with ripe tree fruit, tropical fruit and capsicum flavours, together with a savoury mineral character. Drink: 2016 to 2022. Score - 96 (Bob Campbell, MW, bobcampbell.nz, Feb. 11, 2016) |
