ZINFANDEL 2015 California
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer SALDO
Deep intense purple colour. Vanilla-tinged, spicy, juicy, ripe plum-cherry nose. Dry, medium bodied, fairly well structured, bright, fairly intense, very spicy, ripe plum-cherry puree flavours with a lingering, crisp, rather tropical, sandalwood-vanilla finish. Has 15.9% alcohol and 7 g/L residual sugar. Not my style. TONY ASPLER / 89-points - Spicy, black plum and leather nose with vanilla oak notes; full-bodied, creamy, spicy and fruity plum flavour with evident vanilla oak, finishing on a note of cloves. TASTING NOTE: The 2015 'Saldo' Zinfandel is another excellent release from The Prisoner Wine Company. Intense and jam packed with berry flavors, this inky colored wine opens with bright aromatics of black plum, prune, ripe strawberry and red cherries. There are bold flavors of black cherries, black raspberry, rhubarb pie and black tea. This has considerable weight and is exceedingly delicious right out of the gate. Best 2017-2025.
