CRIANZA 2012 DO Ribera del Duero |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
VIŅA VILANO |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Dusty, spicy, intense, plum nose with some hints of cedar-sandalwood. Dry, medium bodied, youthful, spicy, dusty, plum-crancherry flavours with a lingering, high acid, cedary finish. This 100% Tempranillo has 14% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number L-7100 on the back label. I am skeptical of the 93-point score appearing in the Vintages Catalogue and on the bottle. The 2011 (**) was released on April 2, 2016 at $21.95. |

TASTING NOTE: Aromas of molasses, wood grain, blackberry and cassis are alluring. Bright, bold and energetic across the palate, this Crianza from a warm, dry year offers toasty oak, chocolate, spice, licorice and black-fruit flavors. As it moves towards the finish, toasty, blackened notes along with hints of mocha rise up. Drink from 2018- 2028. Editors' Choice. Score - 93 (Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast, Sept. 2016) |
